For years Val & I have been huge Frank Sinatra fans. You will notice several of our litters have been named after Sinatra songs, we felt it only fit that our newest American import be named after Ol' Blue Eyes himself. "Frankie", along with his registered name "Black Magic", after a great Sinatra love song ... That Old Black Magic ...
Paul and Sharon Manning offered us the choice of our pick male from their lovely "Hudson" and "Betsy" litter and we travelled to Kansas to choose our new dog.
Frankie's sire is Am Ch Camelot's Go for the Gold, WCA 2003 Invitational winner, BOB 2004 Westminster, BOB Eukanuba Invitational 2005. Frankie's dam is the stunning Am/Can & Int Ch Silversmith Pewt'run Betsy Ross, sired by Top Producer Am Ch Windwalker's Graeagle, also a past Westminster BOB. Frankie's pedigree is representative of the best producers and show dogs in the US today, including Ch Am Ch Smokey City Mob Boss.
We are grateful to Paul and Sharon for giving us the opportunity to expand the gene pool once again in Australia. "Frankie" stayed with them until he had met all the usual requirements in order to come to Sydney.
During his stay in the USA he finished his American Championship with back-to-back 5 point majors from the 6-9 month old puppy class.
Frankie came out of quarantine and competed in his first show 5 days later at the ACT Weimaraner Club Specialty under breed specialist Mrs Patsy Hollings from the celebrated GUNALT Kennels in the UK where he was awarded Best Junior in Show.
On this same weekend, Frankie was Dog Challenge (21 pts) and Runner up to Best of Breed and Junior in Show at the ACT Gundog Society Show under Gundog Specialist Judy Kennan-Wray (VIC).
Frankie finished his Australian Championship with ease with numerous BOB wins, multiple class in show wins in Specialty/Gundog and All Breeds and Group #1 and #2 wins. He was Reserve Challenge Dog – Weimaraner Club of NSW Inc Easter Specialty 2005.
Frankie had a whirlwind show career and was a 3 times BEST IN SHOW All Breeds winner, 2 x Best of Breed Brisbane Royal winner, Canberra Royal Best of Breed 2006 just to name a few.
To his credit he has produced both American & Australian Champions.
